Throne of Glass is just Awesome

I know, it has been a long while since I updated my blog. I have so much to tell but not in this blog post. Believe it or not I have read more books since I stopped updating my blog. Writing helps me to rant about all the things I love and adore but reading is panacea! May be because of the mental stress that I have to read more for the blog, I didn’t read at all when I was actively writing. Once I stopped all of it came back and I was able to pick up some amazing books! So, what is with this Throne of Glass series anyway?
If you have read the last post, you may know how much I loved reading A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I went on and read the other two books in this series and it did not disappoint me at any point of time. I was not able to contain my love towards Sarah J Mass, and I went and bought more books!
If you are looking for the perfect blend of Magic and action, this is it – Throne of Glass (first book in the series) you guys! So, what are some of the things that I absolutely adored in these books?

Plot of the book

In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, Celaena, an assassin, is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass—and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

REVIEW

Celana Sardothein: Beautiful skilled warrior who can rip the heads of even the most talented soldiers under a second. Dreadful yet vulnerable in ways no one can see. Strong yet craving for unrequited love. Pretending to be cold-hearted but filled with love. Brave and strong gal. I love her so much.
She is a trained assassin and popularly known as Adralan’s assassin. For a 17 years old girl (She is so much younger than me!), you may think killing someone would be a very difficult thing. However, Celeyana was trained for 10 years to be an assassin. She killed for money to repay her master. But there is so much to her character than just what the author shows in the first book.
You will come to know her as a stubborn and dangerous killer but trust me you will grow to love her by the time you reach the end of first book. I read two books in this series and I can see how much she has changed.
Fighting: There is something about it. I am always drawn to people with swords chopping each others heads off and showing off their skill and technique. However, I am not pleased that they are killing each other but the idea of kings and kingdoms filled with warriors who are strong and who believe in someone so much so that they are willing to kill a person. That idea, is very intimidating yet I am drawn to it. That is what makes Historical Fiction so great. Trust me I have read a lot of books in this genre and never I have come across fighting scenes with this much intensity. They are written so artistically, without letting out the gruesome flavor yet subtly hinting how much a character is in trouble.
Dialogue: I am always a fan of a book with good dialogue. May be that is what makes me like Harry Potter. This book has so many good quotes and it clearly shows how the character thinks. I would have loved to see the book written in first person but it is not! The narrator explains each characters feelings and surroundings.
Perfect blend of fun and Mystery: Till the end you will be left guessing. I love the mystery part of the story. Some of my guesses were true and some, my friend spoiled it for me, but mostly they are intriguing. Though her life hangs in uncertainty, she still manages to have fun time with Chaol and Dorian. The flirting and teasing were just in the perfect dose. You wouldn’t want anything more or anything less.
I love the fact that the main character in the book is female. You may think I am a feminist and I am rightly so. Celeyana has done things – brave things – that no man would have attempted to do. If she wanted to escape from the Adralan’s castle, it would not have taken 5 minutes. But she stayed, which showed her intelligence to use the power. It is just amusing, knowing that a person can kill you before you even notice what is happening and still letting her stay in your house. Also, she did not jump on the opportunity but she took it slow measuring every moment, grasping on every word and finally like any girl with a heart, she did fall in love. Even the most cold-hearted person in the whole Adarlan can fall in love.
Trust me, you guys will love this book. I have heard nothing but good things about this book and I myself enjoyed it so much. My friend Rachana, co-author of this blog also liked it and you can ping us both in the comments section and we will be happy to talk about some Throne of Glass. You guys should try this series.
